OCUK Open Champs - Saturday Sept 23

The 1st Annual OCUK Open Championship

Date: Saturday September 23, 2006

Start: 10:30am

Who: The race will be open to anyone

Cost: £5 (includes BBQ)

The Race Format

OC1 Races

Start Time 10:30am.
Heat Racing over 500m.
Every competitor will be guaranteed at least three OC1 races.
Major and a Minor Final!
Men’s and Women’s divisions.

OC6 Races

Heat Racing over 500m on a 250m course (ie one turn).
Start in opposite direction to opposite turn buoys 250m from start, turn and back to start.
Number of races to be determined by number of paddlers on the day.
Handicapped so that the faster OC1 paddlers are mixed evenly throughout the crews.
Mixed crews.

Update from Fridays racing in NZ

Update from Tim Osborne from NZ...

Gid day all,
Actually got 5th in the first race due to a disqualification.
For those stattos out there we were about 18th fastest out of around 50 crews. We seemed to do the turns well but need a bit more flat line speed if we want to be faster.
In the rep we came 7th so no cigar there. Was close between 5th and 7th but did not manage to pip team xylo from oz and a kiwi.
Jacks crew got 2nd in rep so through to final.
500m tomorrow.

Update from Thursdays racing in NZ

The guys have come 6th in their V6 1500m heat. They now get to race in the repechage which has been postponed until tomorrow. Also in this race, an NZ crew in which ex OCUK member, Jack Wormald is paddling!
