Welcome to ocuk's resident poet and mad hatter - Mr. Bobby Furby. Here Bobby will regale you with his thoughts on OCUK events past, present and in the future. Whatever his mind comes up with and he is kind enough to publish
will appear here...
Hamosity
Like standing beneath the feet in the Colosseum of the gods , listening to the blue sea gently crashing onto the white sand beaches as the water dispenses either side of the Hull of our canoe. I
look out into the ocean deep in a day dream imaging what lies ahead for me and my friends . The overwhelming anticipation after months off waiting like fighting to catch a wave until the wave catches you relief until you
knowingly surrender to yourself to the power of the ocean. I woke abruptly the night as the wind turned the large eucalyptus trees into violent 40 ft monsters crashing about all i could think off was how these monsters were
churning up the ocean into a frothing rabies infected dingo and that we were going to be on the receiving end off a nasty bite. Barely awake through the race briefing until the mention of death and the full responsibility will
full on the steerer ha that’s me but i was more worried about getting the boat back in one piece - the paddlers could look after themselves. As the golden light broke through the cloud and started to warm as on the top of
passage peak in the crisp morning air we all had a laugh to ourselves about how great a trip it had been the poor Maori forgetting the benefit of shoes .
Getting pumped for Molokai

Venice Malibu Special
I felt like i was bursting out of a Renaissance painting full off the surreal and tingling with spasmodic energy as we powered our way down the grand canal.
The culture absorbs you the taste ,smells and over excited Italians you feel apart of the whole crazy mess instantly like a drug taking hold of your body's faculties .
Been injected into summer with a hazy dew on my mind the relief of good friends food and strong cocktails was the perfect ingredients for a fucking fantastic time.
thanks kids
looking forward to many more ocuk adventures

Powerstation Harbour
We shot through the traffic, excited to free the malia from its home on the Thames where she had served us well, but eager to embrace the ocean again.
Using 'Express Woody' - the fastest canoe removal service on the planet, it was not long before we were frozen to the bone battling with the weather in Calshot.
The two - "Mako" lost its salty virginity to Tim and Don who were very red faced after their splash, beers were consumed, emotions ran high, battles with tents in drunken states but all in all another great ocuk trip.
Lookin forward to the next one.

"Too many bunnies"
Some bunny's went down to the sea to play, but one silly bunny forget to bring his paddle so one silly bunny had to watch from the beach while all the other bunnies played.
Then the bunny's set off back to barnes, Rangi bunny was allowed to go back in Posh bunny’s car and Ginger bunny took the van.
Oh no, the van wouldn’t start. Rangi and Ginger bunny were scratchin’ their heads, yeah Rangi and Ginger bunny fixed it.
A little further on and Ginger bunny spanked the trailer off a concrete drain. Ginger bunny was in twable.
Then a McDonalds coke doing 40 miles an hour hit Rangi bunny which made things a lot sticker than they already were.
Now Ginger and Rangi bunny had just about had enough of there cluster fucked day when a very large object "spare wheel to trailer "was found sitting in the back of the van and not with the trailer back in Henley.
So Rangi bunny had to carry the spare wheel on the tube.
Ginger bunny was last seen being chased out of Henley by mad Irish bunny.

New York 2002
My feet cooled as they hit the water in the bottom of the boat, the heat from the steel wharf was a thousand miles away now as I look upon my crew, literally bursting out of their seams.
Had I woken up at the mad hatter’s party?
No, Alice wasn’t there, just the fuckin’ statue of Liberty.
Had a completely excellent time with a great group of people, c u back for more.
The yummiest fruit cake of them all.
